A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin for Mr. Thomas Charles Olivier, Jr., 69, a native of Franklin and longtime resident of Centerville, who passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, at 3:35 PM at Lafayette General Medical Center. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Father Thomas Vu, of St. Jules Catholic Church, will officiate the services.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Vietnam War. A die-hard LSU fan, Thomas held season tickets for over 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, worked in the oil industry for 25 years, and was a high school basketball referee for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Theresa Martin Olivier of Centerville; one daughter, Trisha Olivier of Baton Rouge and her fiancé Andrew David of Baton Rouge; his mother, Dorothy "Dot" Fournier Olivier of Centerville; one brother, Michael Olivier of Gulfport, MS; two sisters, Bonnie O. Mensman of Franklin and Kim Cirard of Patterson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Charles Olivier, Sr.; and one nephew, Shane Burke.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday at Ibert's Mortuary from 12:00 PM until Mass time at 2:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 1:30 PM.
