Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at 1:00 PM at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin for Hilliard B. Cole, 73, a native of Shadyside and a resident of Franklin, who passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012, at 6:17 PM at Iberia Medical Center. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Deacon Douglas Hebert will officiate the services.
Hill was a 1957 graduate of Centerville High School. He loved sports and was a die-hard LSU fan. He worked at Himel Motor Supply in Franklin as well as for St. Mary Parish. He was a lifetime member of the Franklin Jaycees and Lion's Club. He was a very devoted person in all that he undertook.
Survivors include his wife of 28 and a half years, Gwen Bergeron Cole of Franklin; two brothers, O. J. Cole and his wife Tina of Franklin and Ronnie Cole and his wife Maria of Franklin; two sisters, Sylvia Carter and her husband Johnny of Morgan City and Rita Provost and her husband Ronnie of Lafayette; two brothers-in-law, Earl Nelson and his wife Beverly of Jeanerette and Alvin (Butch) Bergeron and his wife Betty of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Theresa LeBlanc Cole.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday at Ibert's Mortuary from 10:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM.
Pallbearers will be O. J. Cole, Ronnie Provost, Todd Cole, Alvin (Butch) Bergeron, Earl Nelson, and Eric Nelson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Cole, Chad Provost, Kenny Cole, and Derek Cole.
