Services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012, at 2:00PM at St. Mary Episcopal Church in Franklin. Burial will follow in the Perpetual Park Cemetery. The Reverend Calvin Lane, Ph.D. will officiate the services.
Fay Gautreau Brown, 86, died peacefully at her residence on Thursday, July 12, 2012. A native of Patterson and long time resident of Franklin, Fay was born to Alvan Paul Gautreau and Marie Stella Seghers Gautreau and married Dr. Hilton J. Brown on August 12, 1950.
She is survived by son, Patrick Brown of Franklin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hilton J. Brown; one son, Robert Allan Brown; her parents, Alvan Paul Gautreau and Marie Stella Seghers Gautreau ; two sisters, Carmen Augusta Gautreau and Marilyn G. Bigler and an infant brother.
Fay was an accomplished writer and author and editor, she received her BA with highest distinction from the University of Southwestern LA in 1945, was editor of the weekly newspaper Franklin Banner Tribune, 1945-1950, editor of the diocesan newsletter for older adults Diocese of LA, Franklin, 1991, Author of Franklin through the Years, 1972 and a book on the life of her son, entitled 'Come into My World', published by Publish America. She was past secretary of St. Mary Landmarks, board member of St. Mary Literacy Council and member of St. Mary Civil War Committee all beginning in 1999, Recipient of the Civic Award Franklin Business and Professional Women's Club in 1950, president of the Council on Aging, a very active member at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, a licensed Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Vestry, a member of the Landmarks Society and very active in the Fortnightly Club.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 at St. Mary Episcopal Church from 12 Noon until service time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Episcopal Church or to St. Mary Humane Society.
