Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at 1:00 PM at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson for Mr. David L. Griffin, 71, a native of Salem, West Virginia and a resident of Bayou Vista, who passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012, at his home. Burial will follow in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Centerville.
David was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, having served for 20 years, until retiring in 1979.
Survivors include his wife, May Bell Hammons Griffin of Bayou Vista; two sons, David Hanagriff and his wife Angie, and Randy Hanagriff and his wife Desi, all of Centerville; two daughters, Kari H. Purser and her husband Robert of Opelousas, and Linda H. Scimio and her husband Thomas "Dago" of Centerville; one brother, Gary Griffin of Riverview, Michigan; nine grandchildren; his former wife, Anna Hanagriff of Centerville; one step-son, Tony Teague of Bayou vista; one step-daughter, Tina Teague of Bayou Vista; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Wilma Bode Griffin; one sister, Donita Griffin; and three step-children, Wanda Faye Teague, Ralph Anthony Teague and Mark Teague.
A gathering of family and friend will be held Tuesday at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson from 10:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM.
