Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 9:30 AM at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson for Alton Hayward Jackson, 77, a native of Hartsvield, GA and a resident of Bayou Vista for the past 33 years, who went home to his Lord on Sunday, June 17, 2012, at 11:25 AM at his home with his family at his side. Burial will follow in Ibert's Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Randy Plessala will officiate the services.
Mr. Jackson was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War. He enjoyed Sunday gatherings at his home with all of his family and friends. He worked for Tide Water Marine for 20 years, and was the owner of Atchafalaya Seafood Restaurant and My Place. He never turned anyone in need away and loved his nieces and nephews as much as his children. He will be deeply missed.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Graves Jackson of Bayou Vista; four children, Dean Hugo Jackson and his wife Stacy of Bayou Vista, Robert Eugene Jackson and his companion Bethany Williams of Stephensville, Zonia Lee Jackson and her fiancé Gene Turner of Patterson, and Nicki Jo Ann Sauce and her husband Rafe of Bayou Vista; one sister, Joyce Jackson of Thomasville, GA; ten grandchildren, Nick Joseph, Christopher Keith, Mariah Whitney, Sarah Lynn, Cameron Hugo, Robert Hayward (Bo), Michael Keith, Stefanie Diane, Cory Alden, Blaze Jo-Nicole; ten great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Hugo Jackson and Bertha Lee Tucker Jackson; as well as five brothers and five sisters.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday at Ibert's Mortuary from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and again Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of service at 9:30 AM.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dean Jackson, Robert Jackson, Nick Joseph Jackson, Christopher Keith Jackson, Robert Hayward (Bo) Jackson, and Michael Keith Jackson.
