Army Emblem

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 7, 2012, at 11:00 AM at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia for Mr. Miguel Angel Bran Trujillo, a native of Guatemala City, Guatemala and a resident of Patterson for the past 46 years, who passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012, at 1:51 AM at Lafayette General Medical Center. Burial will follow in the Patoutville Cemetery. Father Gregory Chauvin will officiate the services.

Mr. Trujillo was 22 years old when he came to the United States and was drafted into the Army shortly thereafter. While serving in the Army he met the love of his life, Mildred Theresa Collins. They were married February 8, 1969. He enjoyed traveling with his family, going on cruises, going to the casino, and crossword puzzles. He was a diehard Texas Rangers and Houston Astros baseball fan. But his passion in life was being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mildred Theresa Collins Trujillo of Patterson; three children, Miguel Angel Trujillo, Jr. and his wife Christy of Broussard, Zoila Raquel Perez and her husband Silvio of Broussard, and Rebecca Trujillo Clements and her husband Timothy of League City, TX; two brothers, Jorge Ocampo of Patterson and Jose' Bran and his wife Martha of Patterson; his father-in-law, Walter Collins of Grand Marais; one brother-in-law, Alton Collins and his wife Betty of Grand Marais; three sisters-in-law, Cathy Joseph of New Iberia, Lavergne Boutte and her husband Terry of Grand Marais, and Sarah Guidry of New Iberia; seven grandchildren, Selena, Miguel III, Silvio Jr., Joshua, Sebastian, Ariel, and Jacob.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leandra Trujillo; his father Miguel Bran; one sister, Zoila Raquel Auyon; one brother, Caesar Augusto Ocampo; his mother-in-law, Louella Boutte Collins; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Collins Ocampo, one brother-in-law, Paul Richard Collins; and his beloved dog, F-E.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, November 7, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia from 9:00 AM until time of Mass at 11:00 AM, with the rosary being prayed at 10:30 AM.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jorge Ocampo, Jr., Miguel Bran, Albert Collins, Corey Collins, Jason Collins, and Christopher Boutte. Honorary pallbearers will be Silvio Perez, Timothy Clements, Toby Collins, Mitch Joseph, Terry Boutte, Jr., Luis Bran, Jorge Ocampo, Sr., Jose' Bran, Alton Collins, and Terry Boutte.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of The Regional Medical Center of Acadiana and Lafayette General Medical Center for the loving care given to Mr. Miguel.
