A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at 1:00 PM at the Church of the Assumption for Lydia Watkins Truxillo Gilbert, 92, a Bayou Sale native and a resident of Franklin, who passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011, at 1:06 PM at the Franklin Foundation Hospital. Burial will follow in the Franklin Cemetery. Father Millard Boyer will officiate the services.
Survivors include one son, Ronald A. Truxillo and his wife Brenda of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Darlene Truxillo Morgan and her husband Floyd (Mac) of Franklin; six grandchildren, David Truxillo of Baton Rouge, Lori Mouton and her husband Troy of Baton Rouge, Jessica Switzer and her husband Scott of Baldwin, Tisha Daigle and her husband Louis of Franklin, Shane Morgan and his wife Leslie of Tioga, and Quin Morgan and his wife Ashley of Lafayette; 11 great grandchildren; four step great grandchildren; and one step great great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roland A. Truxillo; an infant son, Roland A. Truxillo, Jr.; her second husband, Joseph Roy Gilbert; her parents, George J. Watkins and Julienne LeBlanc Watkins; one great grandson, Alex Daigle; four brothers, Eugene, Lawrence, Walton, George L. Watkins, Sr.; and four sisters, Margie Leech, Winnie Watkins, Bettye Hidalgo, and Mae Watkins (infant).
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday at the church from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM, with the rosary being prayed at 11:30 AM.
Pallbearers will be Shane Morgan, Quin Morgan, Louis Daigle, Brice Daigle, David Truxillo, and Roland (Sonny) Hidalgo.
