Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Patterson for Mrs. Janet Alpha Blanco, 80, a native of Patterson and a resident of Ricohoc for the past 17 years, who passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013, at 4:37 AM at Teche Regional Medical Center. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Rev. Clyde Crappell will officiate the service.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday at the church from 9:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM
Mrs. Janet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who was very devoted to her family. She helped take care of her grandchildren while her children worked as well as friends when they were sick. In her later years, being confined to her home due to her failing vision, she greatly enjoyed talking on the phone with her family and friends.
Survivors include four children, Julie Anna Blanco Sauce and her husband Darcy, Dewayne Paul Blanco and his wife Maria, Stephanie Marie Blanco Dupré and her husband Myron, and Monica Faye Blanco Blanchard and her husband Gary; two sisters, Maxine Alpha Walker and her husband Don, and Marlene Alpha Daigle; sixteen grandchildren, Rebekah Sauce Alpha and her husband Mike, Matthew Sauce and his wife Erin Tayle, Jeremy Sauce, Brian Blanco and his wife Laura, Philip Blanco, Nina Sorbet Goodwin and her husband Don, Micah Sorbet, Alexander Blanco and his wife Desiree, Benjamin Blanco, Mary Blanco, Joseph Blanco, Brad Dupré and his wife Julie Stelly, Brett Dupré and his wife Kristina Falgoust, Eric Blanchard and his wife Jessica Reason, Stephen Blanchard, and Sarah Blanchard; 17 great grandchildren, Seth Alpha, Tristan, Crislin, and Bruce Sauce, Isabella Blanco, Bishop Campbell, Donald "DJ", Courtney, Yvonne, and Richard Goodwin, Sidney Demet, Rorey, Riley, Noel, and Gabriel Blanco, and Devery and Abigail Blanchard; as well as another great grandchild to be born soon, Violet Dupré.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard William Blanco; her parents, Pinckney Davis Alpha and Julia Trellue Alpha; three brothers, Robert Ray Alpha, Brian Davis Alpha, and George Pinckney Alpha; and two sisters, Elaine Alpha Watson and Frances Alpha Hammond.
