William Bryant Gober Sr., a native of Carroll County, MS and a 60 year resident of Patterson, passed away at the age of 85 on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. Billy, as he was known by family and friends, was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whose grandchildren and great grandchildren were his world. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army having honorably served during the Korean War. He loved fishing as well as anything to do with the great outdoors. Billy was quite the character and was truly one-of-a-kind. He was a welder by trade and worked hard to provide the best he could for his family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Those he leaves to cherish his memory include his wife of 65 years, Jo Ann Walls Gober; six children, William Bryant "Billy" Gober Jr., Davey Gober, Greg Gober, Barry Gober and his wife Peggy, Lisa G. Wilson and her husband Paul, and Tim Gober; one sister, Edna G. Salmon and her husband Henry; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren, his beloved dogs, Maxie and Sam; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Louis Gober and Maud Divine Gober; one brother, L.S.; and four sisters, Alice, Hattie, Polly, and Mary Lou.

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the visitation on Monday, April 9, at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson beginning at 8:30 a.m., with funeral services held at 11:00 a.m., led by Pastor Den Hussey. Following the service, Billy will be laid to rest in the Patterson Protestant Cemetery, with Military Honors conducted by the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
