Funeral services for Vera Lee Dantin Lonegrass will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017, during an 11:00 a.m. graveside service in the Franklin Cemetery with Father Lloyd Benoit conducting the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Herbert J. Lonegrass Jr., Eugene Young, Greg Young, Tres Lonegrass, Michael Lonegrass, and Blair Touchard.

Muffin, as she was affectionately known, was born in Orange, TX and was a resident of Covington for the past seven years, living in Metairie and River Ridge prior to that. The fourth of six children, Vera was born on August 31, 1920 to the late Robert E. Dantin and the late Olyampe Christina "Mae" Romero Dantin. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother whose favorite pastimes included painting, especially antebellum homes, smocking, embroidery, ceramics, and traveling, of which she once traveled around the world with her husband. Vera passed away in Covington at the age of 96 in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 29, 2017. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her son, Herbert J. Lonegrass Jr. and his wife Bonnie Feldheim Lonegrass; her daughter, Sandra Lee Lonegrass Young and her husband Eugene G. Young Jr.; five grandchildren, Herbert J. Lonegrass, III "Tres" and wife Nancy Rhodes Lonegrass, Wendy Lonegrass Touchard and husband Patrick Blair Touchard, Michael David Lonegrass and wife Melissa "Missy" Thornton Lonegrass,, Ashley Ann Young, and Gregory Joseph Young and his wife Darlene Kieffer Young; as well as ten great grandchildren, Madison Lynn Lonegrass, Haley Elizabeth Lonegrass, Kylie Liberté Touchard, Ashleigh Marie Touchard, Albright Louise Lonegrass, Michael David Lonegrass, Jr., Hope Ann Karam, Brooke Ann Denshuick, Megan Elizabeth Young, and Sarah Ann Young.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert J. Lonegrass Sr.; her parents, Robert E. Dantin and Olyampe "Mae" Romero Dantin; her five siblings, Archie Dantin, Robert Dantin Jr., Rose Mary Dantin Batchelor, Melba Fay Dantin, and Lillie May Dantin.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to a charity of choice.
