Louis Joseph Lipari passed away surrounded in love by his family at the age of 67 in the late hours of Sunday, October 23, 2016, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held Friday, October 28, 2016, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson during an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian burial. Celebrant for the Mass will be Father Jacob Lipari, godchild of Louis, with Father Angelo Cremaldi concelebrating. Following the Mass, he will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his sons, Matthew, Jeffrey, and John Douglas, and nephews, John Armato, Bryan Lipari, and Tommy Lipari. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews, Mark Lipari, Michael Lipari, Lucas Lipari, Joey Lipari, Lenny Armato, and Carl Armato; and dear friend, Tommy Pollard.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday at St. Joseph from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. until Mass time.

Louis was a caring, big-hearted, generous, and fun-loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who had a great sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh and was a family-man through and through. A native of Morgan City and a lifelong resident of Patterson, Louis began his career as a teacher and coach at Morgan City High School. Following a short time teaching and coaching, he ventured into the insurance industry, which began a 35 year long career. Louis was also active on many civic fronts in the Patterson area. He was a former Councilman for the Town of Patterson, served on the St. Mary Parish School Board for 26 years, and was very active in youth athletics, serving as a coach and mentor. A longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson, Louis was also a third degree member of the Patterson Knights of Columbus Council 1710. Most importantly, Louis loved his family with all he had and was a proud "PaPa" who actively supported his grandchildren in all that they did. He will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those he leaves to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Suzanne Carpenter Lipari; their three sons, Matthew L. Lipari and his wife Kristen, Jeffrey P. Lipari and his wife Tabby, and John Douglas Lipari and his wife Frannie; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Brooke, Bailee, Megan, Emily, Landon, and John Lipari; one sister, Leona Armato; two brothers, Luke J. Lipari and his wife Kay, and Lenny M. Lipari and his wife Robin; one sister-in-law, Mikie Lipari; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo P. Lipari and Mary Cremaldi Lipari; two brothers, Peter L. Lipari and Cosimo "Gus" Lipari; his father-in-law, John D. Carpenter; his mother-in-law, Annette Cone Carpenter; and one brother-in-law, Lucien Armato.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Louis' many nurses at MD Anderson for the loving and compassionate care given to him, as well as to everyone for the many calls of concern and prayers offered.
