Funeral services for Hazel Breaux Huffman will be held Monday, February 5, 2018, at the Church of the Assumption in Franklin during a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Father Michael Russo will be the Celebrant for the Mass with Father Lloyd Benoit and Father Oneil Landry concelebrating. Following the Mass she will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Loreauville. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew and Jeffery McClendon, Ben Chauvin, Calvin Robicheaux, and Jessie and Lynn Breaux.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, February 4, at Ibert's Mortuary from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday at the church at 11:00 a.m. and continue until Mass time.

Hazel was a native and lifelong resident of Franklin who passed away at her home at the age of 88 on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. Born on February 20, 1929, she was one of nine children born to the late Armand Breaux and the late Claudia Dugas Breaux. She dedicated 38 years of service to the Banking Industry, starting her career at Commercial Bank and retiring from Capital One Bank. Hazel was a faithful parishioner of the Church of the Assumption where she volunteered for many years, eventually working part-time for the church. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters Court Assumption and the Ladies Altar Society. Mardi Gras was her favorite holiday and family gatherings were what filled her with joy. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her three daughters, Ursula H. McClendon and her husband Steve of Marble Falls, TX, Erna H. Bodin and her husband Tim of Franklin, and Nancy H. Crews and her husband Eddie of Meridian, MS; one sister, Gertrude B. Oubre of Loreauville; nine grandchildren, Lacy B. Chauvin and her husband Ben, Eran E. Bodin, Erika L. Bodin, Katelyn C. Edens and her husband Joseph, Laura C. Ashley and her husband Jason, Jessica C. Barham and her husband Jason, Matthew McClendon, Jeffery McClendon, and Michelle McClendon; ten great grandchildren; a very special niece, Cathy Lamaison, who was like a fourth daughter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Daniel, Chester, Jessie, Olden, and Lloyd "Preacher" Breaux; and two sisters, Luneze Robicheaux and Shirley LeBlanc.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to their cousin Cathy Lamaison for all she has done for their mother.
