Funeral services celebrating the life of Gerry D. Martin will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin. Rev. Dr. Chris Holloway will conduct the service. He will be laid to rest in the Chitimacha Mausoleum in Charenton following the service. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday at Ibert's Mortuary from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.

Gerry, affectionately known as Gaggy, was born in Franklin on June 15, 1962, the fourth of five children born to the late Ludwig A. "Lou" Martin and the late Janet Marie Vilcan Martin. He passed away at the age of 55 on Monday, October 23, 2017, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette. Gerry was a member of the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Charenton.

Those he leaves to cherish his memory include his wife of 21 years, Patricia Simoneaux Martin; his son, Coty Martin and his wife Kaylyn; his daughter, Kati Alexis Martin; two grandchildren, Alyssa and Janey Martin; three brothers, Terry Martin and his wife Rebecca, Lonnie "Lulu" Martin and his wife Angela, and Todd Martin and his companion Paula Darden; and a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gerry was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie "Toon" Martin.

Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Compton, Pat Lobdell, Brandon Darden, Lonnie Martin, Vernon "Bubba" Higgins, and Nick Landry. Honorary pallbearer will be Kadin Landry.
