Ernest J. Romero Jr., a native and lifelong resident of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly at his home at the age of 41 on Monday, May 7, 2018. Joe, as he was better known, was a devoted husband and father whose family was his world. Some of his favorite pastimes included cooking, fishing, and spending time with his girls who he always doted on. He was also a big Saints and LSU fan. Joe worked for the past five years as a field technician for Boardwalk Pipeline. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those he leaves to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 13 years, Heather Verrette Romero; their two daughters, Zoie and Emma Romero; his mother, Lisa Legnon Romero; two brothers, Russell Romero and his wife Rosalyn and Chase Romero; father and mother-in-law, Theo and Lecia Verrette; brother-in-law, Sean Verrette and his wife Kristie; ten nieces and nephews, Katelyn, Reagan, Robyn, Russell Jr., Ryan, Russia, Jayden, Easton, Meagan, and Alec; and two great nieces, Ma'Kinley and Paizlee.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest J. Romero Sr.; as well as by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, May 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Father Ruben Primor as Celebrant. He will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers will be Chase Romero, Russell Romero, David Gibson, Stephen Buckner, Chase Bourgeois, Brandon Bourgeois, Sean Verrette, and Travis Clements.
