Music Emblem

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 2, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Ibert's Mortuary in Franklin for Elray Boudreaux, a native and former longtime resident of Charenton and a 17 year resident of Baldwin who passed away at the age of 76 on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at Iberia Medical Center following a lengthy battle with cancer. He will be laid to rest in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery Mausoleum in Charenton. Father Cedric Sonnier will conduct the services.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Ibert's Mortuary on Wednesday, February 1st, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 7:00 p.m. Visiting hours will continue Thursday, February 2nd, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.

Elray loved life and lived it to the fullest. He developed a love for music at an early age and began singing at the age of 15 with the Del Royals, and then with the Shadows and various local bands. He was honored to sing for Gov. Mike Foster at the Governor's Mansion in Baton Rouge as well as at Oaklawn Manor. He didn't stop singing until cancer took his voice in 2015.

Those he leaves to cherish his memory include his wife of 39½ years, Debra LaFont Boudreaux; his three children, Liz B. Baudier and her husband Brian, Elray J. Boudreaux, and Brent Boudreaux; three grandsons, Vic DiPietro, Brandon E. Boudreaux, and Dylan J. Boudreaux; one great grandson, Roman J. Boudreaux; one sister, Shirley Ducote; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Eddy J. Boudreaux; his parents, Addy Boudreaux and Lillian Rollison Boudreaux; two grandsons, James M. Brewer IV and Joshua M. Brewer; and one brother, Donald J. Boudreaux.
