Burnie Mae Ardeneaux Barrilleaux, a native of Shadyside and a 75 year resident of Centerville, passed away at the age of 93 with her family at her side on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at the Franklin Health Care Center.

Burnie was a devout Catholic and a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville, where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She was also a longtime member of the choir. She adorned our church for many years with the most beautiful Christmas decorations. Some of Burnie's favorite pastimes were crocheting, ceramics, and decorating her home. But by far what brought her the greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her two sisters, Greta Ross and Maureen Ardeneaux; her three children, Elaine B. Rodriguez and her friend Junius, Roland Barrilleaux Jr. and his wife Dianne, and Michael "Mickey" Barrilleaux and his wife Toni; 11 grandchildren, Natalie Gianfala, Stephanie Clement and her husband Trey, Lance Rodriguez and his wife Carmen, Curt Rodriguez and his wife Lisa, Nicole Rodriguez, Anthony Rodriguez and his wife Kellie, Blaine Barrilleaux and his wife Karen, Kimberly Hebert and her husband Brady, Yvette Barrilleaux and her fiancé James, Todd Martin and his friend Jondalyn, and Billy Martin and his wife Dawn; 21 great grandchildren, Lance Michael Rodriguez, Valerie Rodriguez, Kaitlyn Rodriguez, Logan Rodriguez, Riley Rodriguez, Emily Clement, Ellen Clement, Elise Clement, Bailey Gianfala, Nora Rodriguez, Kameryn Rodriguez, Joslyn Rodriguez, Taylor Barrilleaux, Brock Barrilleaux, Chase Businelle, Drake Businelle, Karli Businelle, Avery Businelle, Joshua Darden, Nina Darden, and Sean Darden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland J. Barrilleaux Sr.; her parents, Oscar Ardeneaux and Melissa LeBlanc Ardeneaux; and one sister, Vera Auenson.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, May 14, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., with Father Ruben Primor officiating and Father Oneil Landry assisting. Following the Mass she will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum. Serving as pallbearers will be Lance Rodriguez, Curt Rodriguez, Anthony Rodriguez, Blaine Barrilleaux, Taylor Barrilleaux, and Chase Businelle. Honorary pallbearers will be Brock Barrilleaux, Drake Businelle, Lance Michael Rodriguez, Bailey Gianfala, Logan Rodriguez, and Riley Rodriguez.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Franklin Health Care Center and the staff of Journey Hospice for the loving and compassionate care given to their mother.
