During her early years, she worked in the retail industry, managing several stores in the Franklin and Buras areas. Some of her favorite pastimes included sewing, crocheting, needle work, cooking for family, working in her yard, gardening, listening to music, and especially Saturday night dancing with her husband. Bonnie passed away at the age of 84 in the early morning hours of Monday, May 8, 2017, at Maison de Lafayette with her daughter by her side. She will be fondly remembered for her huge smile and loving nature and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her daughter, Cheryl Miguez; one granddaughter, Crystal Bourque; one grandson, Mark LaBarge; three great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; six siblings, Ann Marie Boudreaux, Shelby Goulas, Susan Little, Robert McLain, Jimmy McLain, and Johnny McLain; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
