Tribute & Message From The Family

Shirley Theresa Hebert passed away at the age of 82 on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Franklin Foundation Hospital with her family by her side.

Shirley was a native and lifelong resident of Franklin and the oldest of three children born to the late Otis Joseph Hebert and the late Amelia Picard Hebert. In her earlier years she worked as an operator for South Central Bell Telephone Company and then Silverman's Department Store. Many will remember her from her many years working as the Water Department Clerk for the City of Franklin, where she retired from. What brought her the most joy in life was taking trips with her family and just spending time with them, especially the babies.

Those she leaves to cherish her memories include her sister, Dolores M. Hebert; nieces and nephews, Mark Hebert, Brad Hebert, Beth Hebert, Larry Hebert, and Charlotte Evans; as well as numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lawrence Paul Hebert.

Visitations will be held Wednesday, March 14, at the Church of the Assumption beginning at 9:00 a.m., with the Holy Rosary being prayed at 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Lloyd Benoit as Celebrant. Following the Mass, she will be laid to rest in the Franklin Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Hebert, Brad Hebert, Larry Hebert, Laine St. Blanc, Lawson St. Blanc, and Lex Hebert.

Family and friends may view the obituary and express their condolences online by visiting www.iberts.com.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ibert's Mortuary, Inc., 1007 Main Street, Franklin, LA 70538, (337) 828-5426.

So sorry to learn of Shirley's death last Thursday when I was there for the CDA Mass. I brought Holy Communion to Shirley and Delores until they left to go to the Nursing Home. And we always went to their room to see if they wanted to come to the Mass in the dining room.

I will keep them both in my prayers.

we did not know Shirley very well, we were friends with her brother Lawrence and his wife Loyce. The things we heard about her were very pleasent and when you spoke to her also.. I know she and her other sister your always available to Lawrence and Loyce and their children. This sure does come at a very hard time for the family. Mark just lost his wife Jill and now this. Well the Lord takes at a time we are not expecting. So sorry for your loss and our prayers are with Shirley and her family. I know she will be missed.

Life long old friends.. So many good memories. One I will share here, because we would still laugh at this incident 70+ years later. We were playing baseball in the Hebert front yard using a small Pet Milk can as our ball and a picket slat from their picket fence as our bat.. Shirley was at bat and I was pitching. She hit the tin can and the can hit me in the "sensitive area" of the male body. Shirley was mortified and I was thinking I had been mortally wounded. Not funny to me at the time but we have laughed about it for many years. Lawrence and I were best friends thru high school and the Hebert children and the Barrilleaux children were considered extended family. I love them all dearly. Shirley will be missed by so many. RIP, dear friend.
