Tribute & Message From The Family

Keith Edward LeBlanc, Sr., 80, a longtime resident of Charenton, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, February 18, 2018.

Keith's love of God was lifelong. His service to church began as a child when he was an altar boy at Immaculate Conception Church in the community of Charenton. His continued religious faith followed him throughout high school during his attendance at Hanson Memorial High School where he graduated in 1955. In his later years he returned to serve the church as an adult altar server and Eucharistic minister bringing communion to the sick. His faith played a vital role and shaped his love of community.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette where he obtained a bachelor's degree in accounting and went on to become a Certified Public Accountant, a capacity that he worked in for over fifty years until the time of his death. Keith loved his work and the relationship that he had with his clients.

Keith's love of community was apparent when he relocated to Charenton following in the footsteps of his father, Abel (Peewee) LeBlanc, who was the first superintendent of the Charenton water district in the 1950s. Keith served St. Mary Parish Waterworks District #6 in Charenton for over 30 years in various capacities. He also served as advisor to the district until the time of his death.

He served the community in numerous ways. He became a member of the Knights of Columbus in his early adulthood while living in Metairie. He continued his devotion to the Knights of Columbus after moving back home to Charenton, where he served the Baldwin-Charenton K. C.s as Grand Knight, and received the distinguished honor of Knight of the Year in 2000, and Parishioner of the Year, in 1990.

He also had a passion for developing the community, becoming a founding member of the Charenton-Chitimacha Fire Dept. He served the Baldwin Volunteer Fire Department for many years firefighting in his younger years and later serving as their treasurer.

While Keith's love of and service to the community was unwavering, his love of family was even more profound. He enjoyed his swamp-pop, going to the camp, seafood boils, and most importantly his time spent gathering as a family to share a meal or a family event.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Gail Bacala LeBlanc of Charenton; his sister, Carolyn Marie LeBlanc of Roundrock, Texas; five children, Jeanne L. LeBlanc and her husband Marty, Keith E. LeBlanc, Jr. (Buddy) and his fiancée Lisa Dantin, Joni L. Ronsonet and her husband Kurt, Jennifer LeBlanc and her fiancé Creig Ronsonet, all of Charenton, and Kenneth E. LeBlanc of Baldwin. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Nicole L. Pellerin and her husband Brandon, Kimberly L. St. Blanc and her husband William (Billy), Christy Ronsonet, Jenna L. Cawthorn and her husband Greg, Melissa L. Caudle and her husband Kyle, Patrick Landry and his companion Heather Smith, Ryan Ronsonet and his fiancée Hallie Mayon, Beau M. LeBlanc, Andrea Smathers, and Ashley S. Uzé and her husband Charles. Great-grandchildren include, Breighton, Nanci, Jace, Maci, and Lexi Pellerin, Marie and William St. Blanc, Charlie Bourgeois, Caroline Caudle, Chance Cawthorn, Connor and Collin Simoneaux, and Cooper Uzé.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Abel E. LeBlanc and Jeanne Fuselier LeBlanc.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charenton beginning at 8:00 a.m., with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Father Cedric Sonnier will be the Celebrant for the Mass.
