Bobby Hodnett will conduct the services. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Beau Pré Cemetery in Jeanerette. Serving as pallbearers will be Bret Bourliea, Patrick Marcotte, Ralph Guiterrez, Ryan Lawrence, Wayne Romero and Brent Rogers. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday at Little Pass Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
Jerry was a native of Charenton and a resident of Sorrel for the past 27 years who passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at the age of 84 at his home surrounded by family. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army who honorably served his God and Country stateside during the Korean War. Jerry's work career was rooted in the Oil Industry, of which he worked for Texaco for more than 36 years until retiring in 1989. A master craftsman in woodworking, he enjoyed cabinet making, building boats and building furniture. He was also an avid outdoors man who enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as traveling, especially family trips to the Smoky Mountains. Most importantly, Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who placed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He will be sadly missed by all.
Those he leaves to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 61 years, Alberta Bailey Marcotte; four children, Lisa Bourliea and her husband Herb, Jerry Marcotte, Jr. and his wife Chris, Donna Romero and her husband Wayne, and Vicki Rogers and her husband Brent; five grandchildren, Bret Bourliea and his fiancée Amanda Seibert, Erin Lawrence and her husband Ryan, Lindsay Guiterrez and her husband Ralph, Patrick Marcotte and his wife Emily and Emily Broussard and her husband Damian; and four great grandchildren, Aubrey Lawrence, Wyatt Guiterrez, Willow Guiterrez and Beau Marcotte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oneal and Annis Story Marcotte; seven brothers, McKinley, James Dewey "JD", Ernest, Elwood, Elmer, Alvin and Robert Marcotte, and one sister, Ruth Burgess.
