Kathy was my teacher at the University of Wyoming where I went to journalism school. After inspiring me to do my best, she helped me get my first job, which I started the day after I graduated from UW. A few years later, she introduced me to a friend of hers, who is now one of my dearest friends, 20+ years later. My thoughts and prayers are with Kathy's family. I am so grateful she and I crossed paths 25 years ago.

My condolences to Kathy's family--I just learned the sad news. I joined the staff in the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office (University of Wyoming) when she was the editor for the A&S College's newsletters, etc. Kathy--I hope your time after you moved away was fulfilling and fun. I always loved hearing about your organized way of spring cleaning and wished I could do it that well. Rest in peace, friend.

A blast from the past...my dear friend and mentor. United Way, the float we did for a parade that ended up in a wagon - mostly we laughed. Precious memories. A wonderful piece of my life, a wonderful friend. I am sad. Know my heart goes out to the family at such a grievous loss.

Just before Kathy began her last bout of chemotherapy, I was visiting her, sitting on her little sofa in front of windows. She looked at me and said, "I could kill for that skin," meaning mine. I replied, "This skin? No, you wouldn't kill for this skin, but in a few months . . ." And then we both said simultaneously, "You/I would kill for that HAIR!" and then both burst out laughing.

Kathy had the best sense of humor

I know that where you are now, Kathy, there is laughter and smiles. You could always light up a room when you walked into it. Thank you for your friendship in high school. It meant a great deal to all of us. May you stand in His presence and know complete joy and happiness.
Your friend

Rest in peace my dear friend. Your sufferings are over, and I know that you are now in a better place. Your courage through your long struggle with your illness will be an inspiration to me, as I begin my fight with liver cancer.

You will be greatly missed by your family, and all of your friends.

Love,
Gene

Kathy will be sadly missed. She was an inspiration to all those she taught. My daughter, Kami, held her in the highest regards, as a teacher. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

All 3 of our children were so fortunate to have you as part of their lives while at Hanson. You were such an inspiration to all of them. You showed them the power of the English language and the everlasting gift of reading and all of it's meaning. May you rest in peace ..
